The Paradox of Courage and Care

As our recommitment cycle continues, many of us are reflecting on what it really means to resource what we love — not just financially, but energetically and relationally. We’re constantly dancing with uncertainty as we move through transformation. Through this reset moment, we’re crossing the threshold together… and calling ourselves again and again, into a shared act of becoming.

We’ve always said that all forms of capital matter: time, care, creativity, relationship, imagination, story, skill, etc. And yet, we feel the paradox that the most visible gateway into our community has been a financial one.

Returning to our original contribution of $1,100 a year is a grounding in trust and a reminder that resourcing what we love is itself a practice of courage and care: a conscious act of faith in the community we’re building, and in one another.

From the outside, Coralus can appear endlessly abundant. Inside, like many of the ventures we support, we’re still balancing two realities: building the new system while surviving inside the old one. We are learning to name that tension out loud  –  the dance between abundance and need, belonging and boundary, generosity and structure.

For some of us, a financial threshold feels uncomfortable. For others, it’s a clear invitation to participate with consciousness and commitment. Both perspectives are true. We are holding both: keeping the door open while being honest about what it takes to maintain the infrastructure that makes our work possible.

One person shared that recommitting felt like “choosing hope while knowing I might be wrong,” an act of trusting community even in the face of uncertainty.

Another reflected, “I’m oscillating between discomfort and pure trust… believing again in our shared growth.”

These voices capture what so many of us feel — that belonging can feel both tender and vulnerable.

“Trying to build the world we want feels like walking through the dark, and there’s no one I’d rather walk with than the amazing people I’ve found here.”
