Learning to Move Together
Since we all walked through the reset together in 2025, we’ve been tracking what has been emerging across Coralus.
We started with signal spotting.
Paying attention to patterns. Noticing what repeats. Listening for what’s trying to emerge beneath the noise. And now, another layer is arriving from the field:
Flocking.
At our recent co-sensing call with Jenn and Ariel from the Interstitium crew, we explored the phenomenon of starlings moving together in murmuration — those vast flowing shapes in the sky that appear choreographed, yet happen without centralized control.
There is no lead bird, no master plan set in advance, and no one person is holding the whole map.
Yet, there is a simple set of relational practices repeated over and over again that can help us find our way.
What researchers discovered about murmurations and flocking is that starlings move by paying attention to the birds closest to them. Small adjustments ripple across the flock, creating extraordinary coherence and adaptability in real time.

Three simple actions kept surfacing for us:
- Stay close to your people
- Add to what they need
- Come back to center (Share what’s happening)
And as we looked at what is actually happening at Coralus we noticed that:
- Pods are forming around collective healing, practicing new skills together, accessing knowledge that we already hold, and witnessing what’s happening in nature around us.
- People who meet in breakout groups are following up their conversations later; Jessica Keats and Stacey M-R have been circling each other for a long time in the community. They got matched in a breakout and took it as a sign to finally connect 1:1 to go deeper at the right time.
- Individuals, like Melissa Kaye, are finding Advisory Boards for their new venture, in this case, within 24 hours of creating a pod.
- There are small groups coordinating intuitively without waiting for permission or formal structures; Jen Simpson and Hilary Van Welter began exploring similar ideas through conversation, which eventually evolved into two Pods that they are now co-catalyzing together.
- A thriving business in need of a breakthrough to systemic challenges they are facing, found a small group of aligned souls to find a workaround (more to come as this becomes shareable).
These are only a few of the examples of how people are flocking together at Coralus.

As Jen and Ariel reflected in our co-sensing call, coherence doesn’t have to come from everyone having a whole bunch of meetings and spending time in consultation together. It can emerge through the ease of regular practice, through people learning how to move together adaptively and intuitively as conditions change.
The beautiful part is that we don’t need to see the whole picture to participate in it.
Each person simply responds to the signals nearest to them.
And over time, coherence builds.
This feels especially important right now. Many of us are sensing the old ways of organizing becoming too rigid, too centralized, too slow for the moment we’re living in. The conditions around us are changing rapidly. Yet nature offers another model.
Murmurations are adaptive. Distributed. Responsive. Alive.
We have the opportunity here to learn to become more like that together.

So for the next while, we’re inviting the community into a shared flocking practice as a lightweight relational experiment.
A few simple invitations:
- Notice who you are already flocking with.
- Reach one step beyond your usual circle.
- Share your signals back into the field.
- Invite others into specific dreams or needs.
- Pay attention to what keeps repeating.
- Let coordination emerge rather than forcing it.
One of the things we’re especially excited about is beginning to witness ourselves more clearly as a living field.
We’ve been experimenting with some fun ways to visualize the growing coherence across Coralus — simple dashboards and mapping practices that help us see:
- what flocks are forming,
- where energy is moving,
- who is connected,
- where bridges are emerging,
- and where care or connection may still be needed.

We’ll be bringing more of this into the next Moon Call and inviting you into the next layer of the practice.
Signal spotting helped us learn to notice.
Flocking is now inviting us to move together.
