A Deep Dive Into Archetypes: Cycle Keepers
This is one of an 8-part series on the emerging archetypes

Cycle keepers are long-term thinkers who protect legacy, integrate ancestral wisdom, and act with future generations in mind.legacy work, long vision, multigenerational
Cycle Keepers are the catalysts of legacy work, initiating efforts that will primarily be felt by future generations. Cycle Keepers are working on a “seven generations” sense of time, and are not afraid of slow, incremental work. They are disinterested in quick fixes. They are students of history, analyzing the decisions and beliefs of those who came before them. Cycle Keepers may appear patient, but they are not complacent; they are deliberate and deeply invested in progress. In our map, this includes Ventures and Pods whose work relates to democracy, climate change, community design, and ancestry.
Cycle Keepers overlap with 4 other clusters, with most of the Ventures and Pods appearing at one of these intersections. The nature of Cycle Keeping work often involves the creation of a new system or the thoughtful adoption of ancient ideas and practices that need support to spread. In order for their work to continue, the practice of knowledge sharing is also critical, along with the willingness to have difficult conversations.
Cycle Keepers make our ecosystem more regenerative because they hold the future close. When they lead, they ask us to act in ways that our ancestors and future generations would thank us for. Cycle Keepers ask, “who are we accountable to beyond our own time?”
