August Moon
At our August Full Moon Calls, we gathered around a question:
Where have you recognized traces of the future in Coralus — through Ventures, different ways of being and doing things, or your own transformation?
Across both calls, we looked back at what we’ve already been practicing, and what those experiences might be showing us about what comes next.
Different futures, already in practice
Some of those traces were already taking shape in the stories shared across the calls.
Shannon Courtney brought us to PEI, where three small-scale organic farmers kept running into each other at the same restaurants and retailers, each carrying the work of delivering produce and chasing payments.
Instead of carrying it separately, they built Growers Station, a shared food hub that now supports 67 farmers.
From Aotearoa New Zealand, Simone Woodland shared Circle Living, which is building intergenerational neighbourhoods around the idea of “bringing back the village.” Their approach starts by building community first, then designing homes and shared spaces around how people want to live and connect.
Two different examples, both offering glimpses of futures already being practiced.
Remembering forward
This is where Remembering begins to meet what comes next.
As Vicki shared, rather than simply asking What ideas excite us? What should we fund?, we’re beginning to ask:
What futures are we recognizing and which are we prepared to help make real?
Our second practice brought that question closer to ourselves:
What feels alive in the future you want to see? And what is alive in you to help resource it?
Across both calls, we heard reflections on:
- Recognizing different forms of contribution — Stacey Mareroa-Roberts reflected on the many ways we can resource what matters, from knowledge and skills to relationships and connections.
- Rethinking growth — Chloe Dubois spoke about moving beyond extraction and infinite growth, and toward systems that recognize our relationship with nature.
- Resourcing the whole human — Jenna Smith reflected on body, heart and spirit, and supporting people to reconnect with themselves and nature.
- Replicating rather than simply scaling — Tyrenny Anderson shared a conversation about paying attention to place, context and the conditions that allow something to thrive.
Again and again, we came back to the idea that how we resource a different future might need to look different, too.
Before we closed, everyone was invited to share one word for the frequency of how we want to feel into this future.

Together, these words offered another glimpse of the future we want to move toward, one shaped not only by what we build or resource, but by how it feels to be part of it.
And perhaps the future isn’t something we have to invent from scratch. Some of it is already here, taking shape in the ways people are choosing to live, work and relate differently.
