July Moon (A Collective Remembering)

Our July Moon gathering became one of the first spaces to begin Remember, the first of the four movements guiding our months ahead.

As Coralus turns again toward the question of what futures we want to support, Vicki reflected on an attempt to capture everything the community had created over its first decade. But it was impossible for one person to hold:

“This is not something I could ever do, because this is a we project, not a me project.”

Remembering, then, becomes a collective act. A chance to return to what we created together: the dreams we helped become realities, what felt sacred, what worked, what we learned, and what we may not want to repeat. By bringing those different memories together, we can begin to see the patterns that might help us recognize what is worth carrying forward.

Moira Were invited us to think about remembering as more than recalling the past. She spoke about it as an active process of reconnecting and re-establishing, bringing what we’ve lived and learned back into relationship with the present.

Our collective remembering took shape through a shared Mural, guided by five invitations:

What emerged wasn’t a timeline of Coralus. It was something much more alive:

• belonging and deep connection,
• being witnessed and supported in our dreams,
• radical generosity,
• the permission to show up fully and trust what we’re sensing,
• and experiences that showed us things could be done differently.

Frankie Edwards brought many of these threads together in their own remembering. They joined SheEO in 2020 looking for community. Funding Ventures brought them in, but what kept them was everything around it: the storytelling, the Pods, the people, and the space to be fully themselves.

Frankie also described the journey as a spiral: returning to familiar places in a different body, with new eyes and new ways of seeing.

Perhaps that’s what this first movement makes possible: returning with new eyes to what we’ve lived and created together, and noticing what we want to carry forward.
