A Deep Dive Into Archetypes: Scaffolders

This is one of an 8-part series on the emerging archetypes

Scaffolders are nurturers of potential who strengthen what’s working and create space for people to grow, belong, and thrive.

Scaffolders strengthen what is working, creating and protecting spaces where people can be authentically themselves. They notice the seeds of powerful ideas, effective practice, and emerging potential all around them. They help these seeds take root, flourish, and spread to other places and contexts where they can evolve. Scaffolders shift narratives around whose knowledge and experience gets centred and valued, building relationships so other people can see themselves as part of what is growing. In our map, this includes Ventures and Pods focused on everything from art to plants, mental health to sustainable fisheries, sharing a commitment to support and spread what works.

Scaffolders overlap with 5 other clusters, including a significant overlap with Tenacious Disruptors. As Scaffolders support what is working, many of them are part of building community, sharing knowledge, looking into the future, and shifting existing systems.

Scaffolders make our ecosystem more hopeful by recognizing just how abundant our community and world is. They see what is possible when we make space authenticity, and nurture what is already growing. Scaffolders ask, “what needs support so more people can thrive?”
